The employee of this class will be responsible for performing a full range of House Cleaning duties, including but not limited to; dusting, wiping all surfaces, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming of; counters, windows, blinds, ledges, sinks, faucets, mirrors, tiles (showers if included) floors, carpets, furniture, doors, stalls handles, knobs and disinfecting bathrooms an applicable fixtures. The employee will also be responsible for reporting any maintenance items which are in need of repair, bringing any safety issues to the attention of the Supervisor for immediate action. Work of this class will require employees to exercise considerable independence of thought and rely on established techniques to effectively meet the needs of each area assigned, consistent with techniques and departmental policies and procedures. Work of this class will involve considerable contact with other employees, public patrons, Elected and Appointed Officials, all to be treated as “Customers” in a kind and courteous manner.
To accommodate Court schedules, work in those particular areas will be assigned in the evening, after court business hours. There is possibility of weekend assignments.
Corrections Officer Eligibility List

The Whitman County Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Corrections Officer with the Whitman County Sheriff's Office. This testing procedure will establish a certified eligibility list from which applicants will be considered when positions become available within the Sheriff’s Office. This process will be subject to the rules of the Whitman County Civil Service Commission.
Lateral Entry Deputy Sheriff

Whitman County's Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Lateral Deputy Sheriff eligibility list on a continual basis.
Applicants must be currently employed a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive months of full-time paid service or ending employment no earlier than 12 months prior to application, as a sworn police officer in a civilian governmental jurisdiction, tribal police officer in Washington state, natural resource investigators employed by the Washington department of natural resources, special agents employed by the Washington state gambling commission, or liquor enforcement officer. In addition, successful completion of the Washington State Basic Training Academy or State training academy in the state in which they are currently employed and the ability to successfully complete the Washington State Basic Training Equivalency Test within one (1) year after employment. Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, no maximum age limit, and must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
These qualifications must be met at the time of application and also at the time of appointment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license prior to appointment is required.
Provisional or temporary employment is specifically excluded from consideration in meeting the minimum requirements.
SALARY: $4,143.00 per month plus benefits, DOQ.

BASIC PURPOSE: Perform a variety of court, criminal, and/or legal work for supporting Prosecutor and Deputies in District and Superior Court and Child Support Cases; also to aid the VAWA Support Staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years' experience as a paralegal or legal assistant. OR Substituting, on a month for month basis, any experience, education, or training that would demonstrate the level of knowledge and ability required.
